Furniture Sales: Where to Shop Style-Forward Finds Without the Hefty Price Tag
Beautiful on a budget? Chic but cheap? Dashing but discounted? Good deals on stylish furniture do exist — if you know where to look for them.
Even those among us with expensive taste can appreciate a good deal when it comes our way. That's partly true for our team of style editors here at Livingetc who, in reality, spend less time waiting for a discount to land in our laps and a good chunk of our time seeking said price drops out.
With an eye for aesthetics first, we spend most of our days hunting down the most beautiful furniture we can find, from designer and big-box retailers, across a wide range of styles and price points, from contemporary to vintage and everything in between.

Is it a good idea to shop for furniture on discount?
"My advice is to do your research in advance if you are shopping the sales for larger pieces of furniture. Put the items you know you'd ideally buy at a discount in the store's online shopping basket and watch for price drops.
"We tend to see prices on furniture and across all other homeware categories, really drop in the week or so before Black Friday itself, so it's worth shopping early before prices go back up again or stocks run out, though you may find more dramatic deals a week or so later."
Are there furniture sales on Martin Luther King Day?
"Most retailers have Martin Luther King Day furniture sales; in 2025, this will fall on Monday January 20th," says Lindsey Davis. "Sale deals tend not to be as dramatic as on Black Friday, when you can find up to 70% off furniture; typically, you'll get around 20 to 30% off furniture on MLK Day."
Is Memorial Day a Good Day for Furniture Sales?
The Memorial Day sales are a great opportunity to purchase furniture pieces for a fraction of their original price. Not only do retailers subscribing to the sale offer major markdowns, but Memorial Day also marks the beginning of summer, meaning a lot of brands use this sale as an opportunity to clear stock for the new season ahead. With extended sale periods often offered and both in-store and online opportunities, Memorial Day is a great day for sales!
When Are the Memorial Day Furniture Sales?
The Memorial Day sales event should typically take place on the last Monday of May every year. The next date to look out for is Monday, 26th May 2025. Many retailers, however, extend their sale periods well before and after this date, so it's wise to keep a watch for furniture sales relating to Memorial Day throughout May.
Are There Furniture Deals on Prime Day?
"There are some surprisingly good furniture deals to be had during the Amazon sale events, whether Prime Day or Black Friday, or any of the other minor sales Amazon has during the year (typically a spring and fall sale event)," says Lucy Searle, Content Director for Audience at Livingetc.
"You may think Amazon isn't a great destination for furniture sales but alongside indoor and Amazon outdoor furniture, there is plenty of stylish fodder to be found, particularly if you know which brands to shop.
"And, of course, many big retailers respond to Prime Day sales by putting on their own competing sales, which means you can, in some cases, find discounts as large as you would around Black Friday."
When is the Best Time To Get a Furniture Deal?
Furniture sales often come with big markdowns, so it's well worth your time to make a note in your diary of when the best recurring sale events happen. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are often the best times to get a huge discount, other major furniture sales fall on Amazon Prime Day, which takes place in mid-July, around Labor Day, the 4th of July, and Memorial Day. While they aren't all furniture sales exclusively, these events throughout the year are all a great opportunity to pick up a piece you've been eyeing for a discount.
