Spring Patterns to Brighten Your Home — Plus, a Designer on How to Style Them
Multi-hyphenate color consultant and designer Rayman Boozer knows a thing or two about patterns. Learn how to layer his favorite prints of the season with this roundup of spring-patterned decor
Principal designer Rayman Boozer of New York City-based design studio Apartment 48 is renowned for his work with vibrant colors and bold patterns. With over 30 years of experience, Rayman has crafted elegantly optimistic interiors that never fail to surprise and delight. An intuitive maximalist, when it comes time to talk spring patterns, Rayman is our go-to expert.
Offering a no shortage of vibrant interior design ideas, Rayman revels ‘in the art of juxtaposing high-end pieces with eclectic finds, creating a tapestry of colors and textures that exude warmth and personality.’ Much like his own eclectic design aesthetic, Rayman says that the ‘allure of patterns lies in their ability to infuse spaces with personality and visual intrigue.’
If you’re familiar with Rayman’s work, you know that one pattern usually isn’t enough — the most interesting spaces are all about layering. ‘Layering patterns harmoniously is an art form that hinges on balance and scale,’ says the designer. ‘Opt for a mix of prints in varying scales, ensuring there's a cohesive color palette to tie them together. Incorporating solids or neutrals between patterns can also provide visual breathing room, allowing each design to shine without overwhelming the space,' he explains.
Rayman is a pattern lover at heart, but he is partial to a couple in particular. Continue below to discover his favorites, along with all the patterns that Livingetc is currently loving this season. From lamps to pillows, shop these expert-approved finds to add a little pizzazz to your space, just in time for spring.

Art Deco motifs reliably lend a touch of joy, especially in spirited items like cocktail glasses. These elegant geometric shapes feel playful for spring yet sophisticated enough to impress even the most discerning guests.

‘For those hesitant to embrace patterns, start by introducing subtle accents,' advises Rayman. This set of candles, each featuring a different, although complimentary pattern, is a fantastic way to ease into the cheerful design aesthetic. Simply situate them on a mantle or side table and let them do all the talking.
Price: $28
Simple yet storied, this Marimekko patterned plate features an abstract gardening-inspired design. Its neutral color palette pairs well with brighter tones and also makes a statement as a standalone piece on dining tables.
Price: $40
When it comes to patterns, nobody does it quite like Missoni. The brand's offerings are forever timeless, but those iconic swiggles are particularly appealing come spring. This hand towel from Saks delivers that coveted designer look with a vibrant twist, all for just $40.
Price: $1,258
We don’t typically associate patterns with wall art, but Rayman recommends the decor option for its understated touch. Far less of a commitment than wallpaper, a vibrant geometric piece like this one from Anthropologie adds a healthy dose of visual interest without taking away from other, more subdued design choices.

‘I've been LOVING toile anything these days,’ says Livingetc style editor Brigid Kennedy. ‘It's so romantic and nostalgic, reminiscent of centuries past and ornate, lavish rooms. And when paired with darker, more structured decor and furniture, it softens — ideal for spring!’ Her favorite application of the print? Lately, it's this blue patterned rug from Ruggable.
Price: $85
Rayman adores a blue or green geometric print, and this set of coasters by Jonathan Adler has both. Place on a coffee or side table for a playfully practical pop.
Price: $78
According to Rayman, a throw pillow is a surefire way to add visual interest without overwhelming a room. A cheerful floral print like this one from Afloral is a great way to embark on a 'gradual immersion into the world of patterns' during spring and beyond.
Price: $1,195
Art Nouveau — Art Deco’s elegant older sister — embraces nature with abstract floral motifs. This piece from Soho Home, with its soft blues and greens, reminds us of the freshness of spring. Its hexagonal shape adds intrigue, making it a captivating focal point near your favorite sitting area.
Price: $350
Few waters are bluer or more sparkling than those off the coast of Italy, which is exactly what inspired this bona fide art piece by La Doublej. Its tonal blue horizontal stripes are eye-catching on their own, but become even more brilliant with a pop of citrus. If this piece doesn’t scream luxury springtime getaway, we don’t know what does.
Price: $200
No matter the time of year, Rayman finds himself taken by 'the charm of ikats.' According to the designer, the pattern's organic irregularities and vivid color palettes 'evoke a sense of wanderlust and cultural richness.' He picked out this table lamp by Pooky, which he loves for its handy rechargeable feature and striking ikat spots. It's 'a versatile addition to any interior setting, whether indoors or outdoors,' he enthuses.
Admire your new springtime decor from one of these patterned accent chairs — a maximalist's dream.
