Abigail Ahern’s new collection of window dressings with Hillarys is just how we want to decorate now
In a palette of earthy delights, Abigail Ahern's new collection for Hillarys transforms and elevates every room in your home
Whether your scheme is maximalist, minimalist, colourful or pared-back, there’s nothing like finding the perfect window attire to give a space that sense of completeness. Picking the right blinds or curtains can pull your look together or provide a jump-off point to guide the entire design direction of your room. Just ask influential tastemaker and pioneer of the dark inky palette, Abigail Ahern.
Well known for her daring, eclectic interiors, Abigail is back with her second collection of fabrics for Romans blinds, curtains and cushions – exclusively created with the window dressing experts at Hillarys.
COSY UP AT HOME
Inspired by fashion and travel, the new collection features nubby bouclé, soft corduroy, neutral camouflage and Berber-style fabrics. It brings a more relaxed feel with softer, tranquil mid-tones like caramel, clay and soft pink – plus texture in spades. ‘I’m obsessed with texture,’ says Abigail.
‘It adds such interest to a room and is often the most under-considered component.’ There are 10 sumptuous new fabrics, seven of the best loved from Abigail’s first collection, and three of her most coveted designs reimagined in a lighter palette. ‘It was important to create a collection that looks as beautiful with pale walls as it does with dark,’ she adds.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
Looking for a solution for a front-facing room or bedroom? Weighty bouclé curtains will bring a cocooning vibe as they hang beautifully and provide acoustic absorption. Make sure they look as good from the outside as they do inside by adding a coloured lining. Corduroy, with its vertical furrows and soft structures, is another uber versatile option that will fit into any interior design style – not just 1970s retro.
This timeless classic has made a big comeback on the catwalk, bringing the same homely, warm feel as velvet. If you love a cosy boho scheme, take a look at the Moroccan-inspired Berber diamond design. Previously seen in Abigail’s rugs, it has been reinterpreted as a curtain or Roman blind and works in both traditional or modern settings. For the colour confident, fringing in standout tones will add drama, while Abigail’s organic camouflage motifs conjure up images of rippling sandy beaches.
TAILORED TO YOU
To help you select the best tones, textures and styles to suit your space, book an in-home appointment with one of Hillarys’ local advisors. They’ll bring samples and take precise measurements for a bespoke quote: prices start from £176 for curtains and £180 for Roman blinds. With many of us spending more time at home, creating a cosy space that appeals to all the senses is key.
That’s why Abigail Ahern’s new tactile fabric designs for Hillarys, featuring new twists on classic designs, will add a touch of Abigail to your home in a way that’s unique to your style.
