When Is the Best Time to Shop Home Deals?

"I've worked with our editors for seven years across our home sales pages, watching price dips and peaks, and I can honestly say that the best time to shop home deals is either at the end of a season, when retailers are about to bring in next season's stock, or during the peak sales season, which really starts when retailers start to drop prices for Black Friday in early to mid-October," says Lucy Searle, Livingetc's content director for Audience.

After-Christmas sales are the next end-of-season sales to snap up your faves before they're all gone!

Are After Christmas Home Deals Better Than Black Friday Home Deals?

After-Christmas home deals are pretty comparable to Black Friday home deals in terms of pricing (you can use camelcamelcamel, for example, to track and compare prices in Amazon sales), but the offer is often broader during Black Friday sales than post-Christmas when retailers are essentially just trying to offload anything that hasn't sold in their fall/winter collections, and which they need to shed before they bring their spring collections into store or online.

This does mean that some items could be even cheaper — however, stock will be increasingly limited, so we always recommend snapping up something you like when you see it!

Are There Home Sales on Martin Luther King Day?

"Martin Luther King Day is a great day for home sales," says Lindsey Davis, content director for homes ecommerce. "In 2025, MLK Day falls on Monday 20th January, and the best places to shop home decor, mattresses and furniture include some of our favorite brands, such as Wayfair, Design Within Reach and Article. For household basics, look to the Amazon sale, discounts at The Home Depot, Target and Walmart. For electronics, Best Buy's sale is a great starting point.

"Bedding deals can be found at Livingetc favorite Brooklinen, while pretty accessories are usually on sale at Ruggable, Lulu & Georgia and Anthropologie.

"As a general rule, the after-Christmas sales tend to bleed into MLK Day sales, though you may see some new lines added. Expect healthy discounts, particularly on seasonal products."

Are There Presidents' Day Home Sales?

"Presidents' Day home sales are particularly good for snapping up investment pieces at a discount," says Lucy Searle, Livingetc's content director for Audience. "This means sofas, mattresses, living room and bedroom furniture, and kitchen appliances.

"You can usually expect up to 70% off at some of the biggest retailers, such as Amazon, The Home Depot, Lowe's, and Wayfair."

Presidents' Day is on the third Monday of February, which in 2025 is on Monday 17th February. You can, though, expect deals to appear from the Friday before, latest; that's Valentine's Day this coming year.

Are Black Friday Home Deals Any Good?

"Black Friday home deals can be really good, with larger retailers such as Wayfair often looking to clear stock before the sales begin in earnest, with discounts of up to 70%," says Lindsey Davis. "We also often see other large retailers discount furniture by between 30 to 50%, while home decor, from lighting to bedding can see similarly big discounts in the run-up to the event.

"You can, of course, be lucky and come across a good deal on any given day throughout the sales period. Or, you could bookmark this page and keep coming back for the latest information, which our shopping team is all over. But I would always advise that you begin to watch prices for anything you've earmarked for your home from early September onwards – some retailers will even allow you to hold products in your basket, which makes monitoring that week's price easier. That way, you can begin to discern what is a good price for any given product you want to buy for your home, then bag it when it's the right price for you.

"Or you could hold your nerve and wait until or slightly beyond Cyber Monday to shop home deals but, in my experience, the best sale prices are often to be found during the main sale event, up until mid-to-end of Cyber Monday week."

Black Friday typically falls the day after Thanksgiving, which was Friday, November 29th this year, making Cyber Monday, December 2nd — so expect similar dates and savings for 2025.
