Livingetc Style Awards 2023 winners: Furniture category
The winners of the furniture category in the Livingetc Style Awards 2023 are announced
As chosen by our judges, a panel made up of Livingetc’s senior editorial team. Global brand director Sarah Spiteri, Global editor in chief Pip Rich, deputy editor (digital) Hugh Metcalf and deputy editor (print) Ellen Finch sifted through all the many, many entries.
Best coffee table - winner: Rosso by Maie
We’ve shouted about MAIE before, so it’s not surprising that its sculptural coffee table tops our list of brilliant designs. Sustainably sourced natural stone is central to MAIE’s design philosophy, and this marble piece is a fine example of the brand’s work. ‘
We admire MAIE’s commitment to sustainability – the offcuts from these tables are even repurposed as coasters,’ says Hugh Metcalf.

BEST DINING CHAIR - winner: Delta chair by Matthew Hilton for The Conran Shop
Simple yet sculptural, Matthew Hilton’s Delta chair – created for The Conran Shop – boasts a clean, minimalist frame typical of Scandinavian design, with a gently curved backrest and padded leather seat.
‘This chair is a perfect example of Matthew’s ability to make complex engineering look effortless,’ says Pip Rich.

Best desk - winner: Jackson desk BY JULIAN CHICHESTER
Even more impressive in person than it is on page, the Jackson desk – designed with British design dup Turner Pocock – features tactile reeding along with smart storage features. You can even feed wires up through the legs and into the back of your laptop - a genius innovation. ‘This piece is both grand and modern at the same time,’ says Ellen Finch.

Best sofa - winner: Pebble Rubble by Front for Moroso
Swedish duo Sofia Lagerkvist and Anna Lindgren, of Front, are the brains behind this sculptural sofa for Moroso, inspired by the shapes and smooth forms of pebbles. ‘We haven’t seen a piece like this before – it’s an example of organic design done to perfection,’ says Sarah Spiteri.

BEST NEW BRAND - winner: Lalande
That Lalande feels both Scandinavian and Mediterranean at the same time is a tribute to the Swedish-born, southern Europe-residing founder Lisa Furuland Kotsianis’ rich background.
Pieces like the Angolo console combine divine simplicity with strong references to the architecture of times gone by, but you can also find playful pieces like the remarkable indoor swings. ‘Lalande’s sensual, finely crafted designs are what we want in our homes right now,’ says Pip Rich.

BEST STORAGE - winner: Rubinne sideboard by Oka
The symmetrical panelling on Oka’s Rubinne cabinet has more than a touch of the art deco to it. The seamless, handleless design hides plenty of storage and a removable shelf, and the piece is crafted in soft grey-washed pine.
‘The panelling feels almost like an optical illusion – a theatrical touch that makes this the perfect accent to a living room,’ says Ellen Finch

Best outdoor furniture - winner: Pulse Collection by Maze Living
Elegant, versatile pieces in an all-weather fabric make up the Pulse collection, one of Maze Living’s most popular ranges. The U-shaped sofa comes with an extra bench for more seating, while the rising table switches from dining to coffee in an instant.
‘Especially in small gardens, good-looking, space-saving furniture can be hard to come by, but the Pulse collection ticks all of the boxes,’ says Sarah Spiteri.

With prices not to be sniffed at (this two-seater bistro set with coffee table comes in at well under £400), Next’s Stockholm outdoor furniture range is clean and minimalist, with a woven rope-effect finish.
