Unless you’ve been living under a rock, it's likely you've heard of The Jolie Filtered Showerhead. Yes, it's the infamous, TikTok-favorite showerhead that filters out all the nasty debris from your water, letting only the cleanest H2O fall on your hair and skin.

Why's that important, you ask? Well, if you live in any American city, chances are your water quality is pretty terrible. While I wish I could bathe in Erewhon spring water, it's just not an option. (Especially in this economy.) Poor-quality water — filled with chlorine, heavy metals, algae, iron and other contaminants — is actually the root cause of common beauty woes such as dry skin, acne, damaged or shedding hair, changes in hair color, eczema...the list goes on.

Jolie goes as far as calling their revolutionary bathroom idea 'step zero' for your beauty routine — if you’re already using face masks and gua shas, then clean water is the absolute must.

And, of course, what Livingetc readers really want to know: the Jolie Filtered Showerhead is pretty — like, really pretty. The sleek bathroom accessory comes in a range of different finishes that would work with your existing fixtures and could elevate even the most basic of bathrooms to spa-like heights.

After seeing the Jolie Filtered Showerhead all over my FYP and even in my own friends' bathrooms, I decided it was time to test it out. After one month of use, here are my honest thoughts on the Jolie Filtered Showerhead.

My Credentials

First things first — why listen to me? Here's a few things you should know. 1) I live and breathe all things wellness. Oil pulling, bone broth, mouth tape — you name it, I’ve tried it. I’ll try just about anything in the name of longevity and good looks, so this showerhead is right up my alley.

2) I’m also a style editor, an interior expert, and a homeware connoisseur. It’s fortunate that I love being surrounded by pretty things like the Jolie Filtered Showerhead because curating and testing them is literally what I do for a living.

3) I am very picky. And, as an Aquarius, I will, for better or worse, tell you the brutal and honest truth.

My Thoughts

Okay, do I think the Jolie Filtered Showerhead is worth the money? In short: yes. I didn’t use a fancy water purifier test to confirm if the water was cleaner, but it definitely felt cleaner. According to the website, the Jolie exceeds NSF-177 water filtration certifications (I’ll have to take their word for it). Plus, the showerhead in brushed gold looks super chic in my bathroom.

Did my hair and skin become even more gorgeous? Here's where it gets tricky. I'm a skincare fanatic with a steadfast American Psycho-esque routine of serums, exfoliants, and creams that I've adhered to since the age of 12. My regimen is so personalized that some products are formulated to suit my specific DNA. So, forgive my humblebrag, but my skin was already pretty great. I didn't notice a dramatic difference, so the jury's, unfortunately, still out there.

As for my hair, the difference was immediate. I have fine hair — but a lot of it — so even the slightest bit of oil or debris can make it look flat and lifeless. Getting the invisible 'gunk' out of my water made a huge difference. My hair looked fuller and felt bouncier and more lightweight, even after the first wash.

I also noticed less hair collected in my drain. Living in an old building, my drain doesn’t drain very quickly, so just a few strands can be all it takes to clog it up. With the Jolie Filtered Showerhead, I could get through my shower in peace without having to worry about it overflowing.

And then there’s the experience: I’ve really been enjoying the way water elegantly cascades from my showerhead. It’s difficult to describe, but the Jolie Filtered Showerhead really feels like it makes your space a spa bathroom — more graceful than most showerheads, even beating out some rain shower head varieties in my opinion. It also seemed to even out my unreliable NYC pre-war water pressure. My Jolie Showerhead made me fall in love with my grimy city shower for the first time ever, and for that, I am forever grateful.

But ‘Where does the grossness go?’ you might wonder. If you’ve watched any Jolie-related content, you’ve probably seen clips of the filter, which needs to be changed every three months. It's a proprietary filter that sits inside the showerhead’s neck, collecting all the nasty metals and sulfites. Given that I've only had my showerhead for one month, I haven’t had to change my filter just yet, but I like the concept of seeing what you’re missing out on — and being thankful you are!

The thing about filters though is that they aren’t reusable. But to keep your Jolie Showerhead functioning optimally, the brand offers a convenient subscription service that sends a fresh filter every 90 days for just $33 (you can also buy them on Amazon). That’s less than 40 cents a day or $132 a year. Considering the cost of blowouts, La Mer, and all the other ridiculous things I buy for my hair and skin, this sounds basically free. And you can’t beat that kind of ease — the filter just arrives without you having to think about it. If cost is a major factor, this maintenance fee is certainly something to consider before you buy.

My Verdict

So, even if you couldn’t care less about wellness, I think the Jolie Filtered Showerhead is worth your dollar: it not only looks great with its oversized shape and sleek construction, but it also feels fantastic.

And if you do have an interest in health or beauty, well, you’ve just met your new favorite bathroom accessory. With an affordable-ish initial price tag of $165 and a 60-day return window if you buy from the brand's website, this luxury bathroom idea comes with virtually no downsides. Plus, it includes an adorable Jolie-branded wrench and plumber’s tape — it’s all in the details!
