"As soon as fall begins, you'll see deals on patio furniture begin to drop," says Lindsey Davis, Livingetc's Ecommerce Content Director. "But the reductions really begin to ramp up from November 1st. That means, if you want a great deal on outdoor furniture, shopping now is key."
Be warned: you are unlikely to find brand new outdoor furniture collections on sale from November onwards. Rather, this is when retailers are clearing out last season’s stock, which means next-level home deals on some seriously swoon-worthy pieces, even if they're not market fresh.

"I've worked seven Black Fridays in a row on our brands' shopping content and, in monitoring the furniture sales across that period and comparing them to the rest of the year, I can safely say that this is when you will find the best outdoor furniture deals. From October and into November, this is when the prices on a wide range of end-of-season collections are most competitive, but also when the stock levels at most retailers are still relatively high, offering you, the shopper, plenty of choice."
Beyond the Black Friday shopping period, New Year's outdoor furniture sales are a good opportunity to get a deal, as are other key holidays, with Labor Day being a standout. Falling on the first Monday in September, it marks the final push for retailers to offload remaining stock before fall.
Additionally, lesser-known sale dates like Memorial Day and post-Christmas sales offer excellent chances to score great deals, even if it’s not the perfect season for outdoor use. Keep an eye on these windows to secure the best discounts throughout the year.
Are Black Friday Outdoor Furniture Sales Any Good?
"Black Friday outdoor furniture sales are your best chance of securing a great deal on everything from patio pieces to accessories," continues ecommerce expert Lindsey Davis. "This period is when retailers are keen to offload their older summer collections before new ranges come into warehouses, which means you might not get a deal on a patio set that was launched the previous summer, but you're very likely to get a deal on older collections, for example.
"And, because stock levels are likely to be higher in early fall, you're likely to have a wider choice than if you shop, say, after Christmas."
If you’re looking to stretch your dollar as far as possible, retailers like Amazon, Wayfair, and Walmart boast a surprisingly design-forward outdoor assortment. But if you have Champagne taste and a budget for, at the very least, Prosecco, mid to high-end retailers like Anthropologie offer fantastic deals from time to time on some serious conversation starters.
Are Black Friday Outdoor Furniture Sales Better Than After-Christmas Outdoor Furniture Sales?
While New Year’s might not seem like the obvious time to shop for outdoor furniture, it is a great opportunity to snag deals. With snow on the ground and most people focused on indoor comforts, retailers are eager to clear out their 2024 stock to make room for 2025 collections. This creates a prime chance for savvy shoppers to score big on discounts when outdoor furniture is far from top of mind for everyone else.
"However," advises Lindsey Davis, "given the choice, I would shop the Black Friday outdoor furniture sales over after-Christmas sales because it's highly likely that while the prices will be comparable, the stock levels will differ, with far more choice on offer over Black Friday. If you are willing to watch prices, wait and keep a close eye on stock levels of the pieces you have set your heart on, you may save a little money shopping after Christmas, but there's no guarantee."
