Imagine the perfect bed. For many, it's a cloud: an almost magical, ethereal cushion beckoning us into a weightless slumber. Crafting this dreamy sanctuary is no small feat, but it's not impossible. You might have caught a glimpse of this cloud-like comfort during a spa day or a luxe resort stay. Inspired by such experiences, I've embarked on a mission to recreate that same heavenly feeling — or better.

Recently, my TikTok scroll led me to a connoisseur of the best bedding sets named Anni Vanderbeek. Her viral "Cloud Bed Recipe" caught my eye, and for good reason. Aptly named, her video serves up all the ingredients, tips, and tricks needed to fashion a bed that feels lighter than air.

And before you assume that achieving this level of comfort requires breaking the bank, think again. To my delight, all the bedding brands Anni mentions are readily available on Amazon, which I liken to a vintage store. Affordable gems are everywhere, but unearthing them demands a bit of digging and patience — thankfully, Anni has done the legwork for us. Continue below for all the ingredients and steps needed to craft a cloud of your very own.

‘In order to have a cloud bed, you have to have fluff coming from every direction,' declares Anni, who recommends an ultra-plush mattress topper as her base ingredient. According to her, this is the secret behind many hotels' irresistibly plush, cloud-like beds. Anni's pro tip? Don't use it straight out of the packaging. Instead, she advises popping it in the dryer first to unlock its 'full fluff potential.'

Moving on to the sheets, Anni swears by a variety by Feather & Stitch for their luxurious white damask stripe. These double-sided sheets ensure you never have to worry about placing them wrong-side-up. Anni recommends tucking in the top sheet as tightly as possible for maximum snugness.

Now, onto her trusty waffle knit blanket by Bedsure, a longtime favorite for its cozy, hotel-worthy feel. Just like the sheets, Anni suggests tucking in the blanket tightly to amp up the comfort factor.

A crucial detail to note? Size up on your duvet insert. Anni opts for a king-sized insert with her queen-sized cover, resulting in an exceptionally fluffy, voluminous top layer. Her duvet cover of choice is a surprisingly affordable find on Amazon, made from jersey t-shirt material that gets softer with each wash.

And finally, the pièce de résistance: pillows! Anni recommends the Coop Home Goods brand for their unique cross-cut memory foam construction. These pillows are perfectly squishy and also adjustable, making them ideal for hosting overnight guests.

And just like that, your perfectly puffy cloud bed is born!
