Where to Buy Outdoor Lighting — The Most Stylish Places to Shop to Brighten Up The Exterior Of Your Home
Finding good-looking outdoor lighting can be tricky, but not if you know where to look. Here's a few of my favorite places to search for beautiful backyard illuminators
Outdoor lighting is an important part of an exterior of a home, but I mean… It's also great if you want to avoid tripping over. It's also ideal for finding those pesky keys tucked deep in your purse or, in my case, outdoor lighting is my saviour as I do not like the dark.
Lighting around the exterior of a home creates a warm and welcoming feel, while illuminating the space it holds. What I love most about outdoor lighting is that even when the sun goes down, you’re able to enjoy the fruits of your labor and be one with nature.
With a large selection of online stores, we know its not easy to find the right fit for your modern home so that's why we've created a list of the best stores where you can source outdoor lighting.
1. Steel Lighting co

Steel Lighting Co. products are 'hand spun out of 18 gauge steel' — pretty incredible right? The brand sells a range of different lighting products, both for indoor and outdoor purposes. So, If you're looking for barn, porch or garage inspiration, Steel Lighting Co have got you covered.

FAQs
How Much Should Outdoor Lighting Cost?
Well, it depends on the type of lighting and the store you choose to purchase it from. The stores we've listed above start from $10 and go up to around $2000, but when choosing the right fixtures for your home, you need to understand the type of outdoor lighting you want, the size and the cost around it.
'Most homeowners spend approximately $3,000 to install landscape lighting consisting of about ten fixtures. Despite this amount being the average cost, it may vary depending on the area’s size and the number of fittings you are getting,' The Perfect Light, an outdoor lighting and landscape lighting business says on its website.
'For example, if you have a typical outdoor space of about 800 yards, you may spend $3,000 to $4,000 for the project. On the other hand, if your backyard is large, it may require anywhere from 30-50 fixtures. In such a case, you may pay anywhere from $300 to install each one of them,' It adds.
What Sort of Outdoor Lighting Do I Need to Buy?
You might not know this, but in some states across the US, like California, it is a requirement for outdoor light fixtures to be energy efficient or Dark Sky certified to reduce light pollution. There may also be legal restrictions or homeowners' association guidelines around what kind of outdoor lighting you can use. So be sure to check these things before installing outdoor lighting!
In general, outdoor lighting follows the same principals as indoor lighting. 'You might find you don't need as much ambient lighting for your yard,' says Hugh Metcalf, Livingetc's editor. 'You don't want to flood your outdoor space with light at nighttime, as not only will this attract bugs, it will disturb other wildlife too. Instead, think of how best to use accent lighting to highlight the best design features of your yard after the sun has gone down while providing a safe passage across the space too, as well as subtle task lighting for the likes of outdoor dining tables, so you're not sat in darkness when dining out late.'
